Townsville is continuing the long and emotional journey of cleaning up and our authorised representatives in the region, Nolan Insurance, are working round the clock to assist their customers.
Trent Nolan and his team have been praised by the local community and, in-turn, have praised their insurers for helping them respond quickly.
Local resident Jon Van Hoff wrote on Facebook;

With everything that has been going on during the Townsville floods, Trent and Janie have eliminated the stress involved in making an insurance claim, and have made the road to recovery smooth and effortless for me. Trent said of all the insurers we deal with, IAL had been particularly responsive, issuing the first cash settlement for house contents on February 7, just hours after the flood conditions started to ease.
“IAL are acting quickly and keep asking what more they can do to help. It is appreciated in this time of need,” Trent said.
According to news reports more than 2950* homes have been damaged; three people have died, and farmers have lost more than 300,000 head of cattle.
The Insurance Council of Australia have been running live updates on the impact; more than 14,900 claims have been lodged with an aggregate value of $175 million to-date (13 February 2019)*.
Insurers have responded by initiating Catastrophe Management Plans and deploying claims teams to the Townsville area.

The Insurance Council and its members have just held and will hold another community insurance forum in Townsville to assist local claimants with any issues they may be experiencing during the recovery.
Each forum will provide access to insurance experts and senior claims managers from participating insurers and you must register to attend (note these sessions are closed to non-claimants and the media) The next forum is on the 25 March.

NRMA is encouraging customers to lodge claims through their severe weather claim page
RACQ has put together a page of information and advice.
Customers of Suncorp Insurance, AAMI, Apia, GIO, Shannons, Vero, and Bingle can now visit the insurance group’s customer-support teams to lodge their claim and speak face-to-face with claims representatives.
The teams are at the following venues:
- The Townsville Stadium, Murray Lyons Cres, Annandale, 9am to 5pm
- Suncorp Store – Stockland Aitkenvale, Shop 130/131, 310 Ross River Road, Townsville, 2pm to 4:30pm
- Suncorp Store – Willows Shopping Centre, 79A Thuringowa Drive, Townsville, 2pm to 4:30pm
The teams can also arrange emergency make-safe work, organise temporary accommodation for customers with severely damaged homes, and provide cash payments for emergency purchases.
